Calibration ensures that the correct feed amount is dispensed per portion.
When is calibration required?
Initial Calibration (System Startup)
During startup, all feed stations must be calibrated individually.
Select Settings from the menu.
Under Feeding, select Calibration.
Under Calibration responders, select Add.
Enter:
Select Submit.
Add one calibration responder per feed type.
As long as a tag is used as calibration responder, it cannot be assigned to an animal.
Perform Calibration at the Feed Station
Go to a feed station with an empty trough.
Hold the calibration tag in the antenna field.
The feed station dispenses multiple portions (5 portions).
Collect and weigh the total dispensed feed.
Repeat this for all feed stations.
Enter calibration values in Velos
Return to Settings in the menu
Under Feeding, select Calibration.
Select the location.
Select Actions > Calibrate.
Select the feed type.
Enter the total dispensed weight per feed station.
Select Ok.
Repeat for all feed types and locations.
Relative Calibration (after New Feed Batch)
After a new feed delivery, a relative calibration is sufficient.
Go to a feed station with an empty trough.
Use the calibration tag to dispense feed.
Collect and weigh the total dispensed feed.
Go to Settings in the menu
Under Feeding, select Calibration.
Select the location.
Select Actions > Relative calibration.
Select the feed type and feeder.
Enter the dispensed weight.
Select Ok.
Velos automatically adjusts the calibration for other feed stations in the same location.
Repeat for all feed types and locations if required.
NoteIncorrect calibration may result in underfeeding or overfeeding.
Always calibrate after changes in feed composition.
