If an animal has a broken eID or no eID at all, you can still link a SmartTag by using a visual identifier such as the life number, animal number, or another unique ID. 

When using this method, the visual ID is saved and will appear in the third column of the exported .csv file.

How to Link Using a Visual ID 

1. Start a scanning session in the Tag app.
   Follow the usual steps for creating a new session.

2. Select Use visual ID.

3. Enter the animal’s visual ID (e.g. life number or animal number).

4. Scan the SmartTag as usual.

   • You’ll hear the confirmation beep

   • The pair is saved in the scan session

5. Repeat these steps for each animal without a scannable eID.
