Understand the Insemination Window for Sexed Semen

Modified on Tue, 12 Aug at 11:49 AM

When an animal is selected for sexed semen, the system adjusts the recommended insemination timing to improve conception rates based on semen type.

How It Works

In the In heat worklist, animals marked for sexed semen are automatically given a modified insemination window. This timing is optimized to align with the characteristics of sexed semen, which generally requires insemination earlier than conventional semen.

The adjusted insemination window for sexed semen becomes visible only when a sexed semen flag is added to the animal.

Once flagged:

  1. The animal is marked with a sexed semen labelin the In heat worklist.
  2. A second insemination bar appears in the reproduction graph, positioned above the standard insemination bar.
