Adjust the Heat Score Sensitivity

Modified on Mon, 5 May at 1:57 PM

You can customize heat sensitivity settings based on your herd’s characteristics.

  • If your herd shows more signs of heat than average, you might want to lower the sensitivity settings.
  • If your herd shows less signs of heat than average, you might need to increase the sensitivity settings.

Note:

Adjusting the sensitivity for determining the heat scores does not affect the number of heats. It only affects the height of the scores assigned to the heats.

How to Adjust the Heat Sensitivity

  1. Go to Settings > Heat detection
  2. Within the Sensitivity tab, choose whether to customize the sensitivity by Pen or by lactation group.
    1. If you choose by Pen, select Add pen and confirm the location(s).
  3. Adjust the slider(s):
    1. Lower scores: For expressive animals, that generally get a higher heat score. You can lower the sensitivity. This causes the cows to get a lower score.
    2. Standard: default setting.
    3. Higher scores: For low-expression animals (older, high productive animals), that generally get a lower heat score. You can increase the sensitivity. This causes the cows to get a higher score.
  4. Select Save.
