Use Sorting Rule Templates

Modified on Wed, 30 Jul at 9:46 AM

When creating a new sorting rule, you can choose from a number of predefined templates. These templates help you create rules faster and more reliably by filling in commonly used filters and conditions. This reduces the chance of errors and ensures consistency in your sorting setup.

Each sorting rule must include the following components:

  • Name -  A clear name that helps you identify the rule.
  • Sorting area - The destination where selected animals will be sorted to.
  • Time schedule - The period during which sorting should occur, and its frequency.
  • Conditions - The criteria that determine which animals are selected for sorting.

Note

The main advantage of using the templates is that they already contain the most useful settings for you. This makes it quicker to set up a heat, health or SmartTag issue-related sorting rules, and reduces the chance of selecting the wrong filters. Each template includes a set of predefined filters. You can adjust these filters and add more filters by using the + Add filters option.

Heat Template

Use the Heat template to create a rule that automatically sort animals based on system-generated heat alerts.

Example

Suppose that you want to separate animals from Pen 5 that show clear signs of heat but are not ready yet for insemination. For example, animals in lactation 1 whose last heat alert occurred more than 8 hours ago, and that are currently in their Voluntary Waiting Period (VWP).

Health Template

Use the Health template to create a rule that automatically sorts animals based on health alerts.

Example

Suppose you want to automatically sort animals that may need closer health monitoring. For example: animals on the Health checks worklist, with a health score of 3 or lower, located in Pen 8, and currently in their Voluntary Waiting Period (VWP).

SmartTag Issues Template

Use the SmartTag issues template to create a rule that automatically sorts animals based on SmartTag issues.

Example

Suppose you want to investigate why some of the SmartTags in pen 8 are no longer sending data. By creating a sorting rule with the SmartTag Issues template, you can automatically separate only the affected animals without disrupting the rest of the group.

Tip

Select Custom if you want to create a sorting rule from scratch.  Use the +Add filters option to define the conditions and filters that best match your farm protocols. See Create a Sorting Rule for more information.
