Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 10:10 AM

Use the steps below to resolve common scanning errors when linking eIDs to SmartTags using a handheld reader. If something goes wrong during a scan session, you can usually fix it right away and continue linking.

Troubleshoot and Resolve Errors

ErrorDescriptionHow to Resolve It
Missing or broken eID The animal’s eID cannot be scanned.Use the Visual ID option and enter the animal number or life number manually
Interrupted session The scan session was closed unexpectedly.Reopen the session from the session overview. Drafts are saved and can be resumed
Mistaken tag order. You scanned two SmartTags or two eIDs in a row.- Scan the previous tag again, then scan the correct tag
- Or select the missing field manually and scan again

For eIDs starting with 984, you must scan the eID first, then the SmartTag.
The reader automatically switches between ISO and NFC based on tag type.
Wrong pairing Two tags were linked incorrectly.1. Remove the incorrect pairing.
2. Scan the tags again in the correct order.
Reader connection issue The handheld reader is not connecting to your phone.Check that Bluetooth is enabled and the reader is charged and powered on. Reconnect if needed.
