Connect Your Handheld Reader

Modified on Thu, 17 Jul at 1:35 PM

To link eIDs to SmartTags, you must connect your handheld reader. If you start a scan session without a reader connected, you will get a warning which will lead you to step 4 of the explanation below.

  1. Open the CowControl app.
  2. Depending on whether you are logged in, do the following:
    1. Logged in: From the menu, select Local services.
    2. Not logged in: Select Use local services.
  3. Select Settings (gear icon).
  4. Select Connect Handheld Reader
  5. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and the reader is charged, see Check Handheld Reader Battery Status
  6. Press and hold reader's power button. The LED turns white for a second and then flashes red, blue, and green.
  7. Select the reader from the list, it should start with “HHR5000-“ followed by its Bluetooth number (printed on the back of the reader).
  8. Wait for the reader to connect. When connected, the app shows the reader’s information and battery level.
  9. Proceed with linking the tags

For more details, see the Handheld Reader Manual.
