Create a Sorting Rule

Modified on Wed, 30 Jul at 9:43 AM

The Rules feature of the Sorting app allows you to sort animals automatically based on the settings that you define. Creating a new rule is easy. Just select the +New rule option and follow the wizard instructions.

Tip

After you created a sorting rule, you can always edit its settings. For instance, if you want to change the time schedule or the sorting area. You do this by selecting the three-dot icon on the right side of the screen. See Edit a Sorting Rule for detailed instructions.

Create a Sorting Rule:

  1. Select the Sorting app.
  2. Select Rules in the left panel. The Rules window opens.
  3. Select +New rule (desktop version) or +New (mobile version). A new window opens.
  4. Enter the Name of the new rule.
  5. Choose whether to add the rule to the top or the bottom of the priority list.
    Note

You can see the priority list on the Rules page. Here you can also change the priority of the rules.

  6. Select Enabled to activate the rule immediately. You can disable it at any time.
  7. Select Next step.
  8. Choose the Rule template that is the best fit for the new rule. Or select Custom to create a sorting rule from scratch.
    Note

To save time, you can check out the predefined Heat, Health and SmartTag issues templates, and adjust them to your needs. See Predefined Sorting Templates for more details.

  9. Select Next step.
  10. Select the required Sorting area.
    Tip

If you do not see any sorting areas, the sorting areas have not been set up properly. Contact your Nedap Business Partner for Support.

  11. Enter the Start date and select the sorting frequency.
  12. Review all rule settings in the Summary window. Select Save.
Note

If an animal matches more than one sorting rule, the rule with the highest priority (as shown in the Rules window) determines how the animal will be sorted. To change a rule’s priority, drag the six-dot icon up or down the list of rules.
