Link eIDs Starting with 984 to SmartTags

Modified on Wed, 13 Aug at 10:27 AM

Some eID tags start with 984, which is the same prefix used by SmartTags. To avoid confusion during the scanning process, you must tell the system that you're scanning this tag type before you start.

Why This Matters

When the system knows you're scanning 984-type eIDs, it correctly identifies which scanned tag is the eID and which is the SmartTag. If this setting is not enabled, the tag data may be misinterpreted or rejected.

How to Link 984-Type eIDs to SmartTags

  1. Start a new scanning session in the Tag app.

  2. Select My eID tags start with 984.

  3. Select Start session.

  4. For each pair:

    1. Scan the eID first
You'll hear one beep, and the eID will appear in the app

    2. Then scan the SmartTag
You'll hear two beeps, confirming the tags were paired
Check the app to confirm the correct link

  5. Repeat this process until all tag pairs are linked

Caution

With this option enabled, always scan the eID first, then the SmartTag.

Tip

If at any point, you hear a long beep and/or feel your phone vibrate, check the app to see what went wrong.

Also, if you do not hear the double beep after scanning the SmartTag, stop and check.
