Understand the Calving Worklist

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 9:37 AM

The Calving worklist shows the number of animals expected to calve today or within a predefined number of days. In addition to pen and animal data, the worklist displays each animal’s gestation length and expected calving date.

How It Works

Animals are automatically added to the Calving worklist based on their insemination date. The system calculates the expected calving date using a fixed gestation length. You can adjust this value in the settings if needed.

What You See on the Dashboard

On the Worklist dashboard, the Calving tile shows:

  • Today: The number of animals that are expected to start calving shortly. The default number of days between insemination and expected calving is set to 280 days.
  • Upcoming: The number of animals that are expected to calve within a predefined number of days. The default number of days is set to 10 days.

Tabs Overview

The Calving worklist is divided into two tabs to help you track current and recently handled animals.

  • Active tab: Lists animals currently due for calving.
  • Past week tab: Lists animals that had a confirmed calving or were removed from the Active tab within the last 7 days.

How to Interpret the Data

Focus on these columns in the worklist:

  • Expected calving: The system-calculated calving date.
  • Days carried calf: Shows how long the animal has been pregnant. This helps verify if the animal is far enough along to calve.

To see more detailed information, select the arrow icon at the end of the row to open the reproduction graph, or select the animal number to view the full overview.

Next Step

Once you’ve reviewed the data and confirmed that an animal has calved, you can update her status in the worklist.

See Confirm an Animal Has Calved for step-by-step instructions.
