Use this method to manually link a SmartTag to an animal by entering tag numbers yourself. This option is available on both desktop and mobile. It’s ideal when scanning isn’t possible or when working with printed tag lists. 

Steps

1. Open the Tag app and go to the Link Tags tab. 
2. Select the correct farm (if applicable). 
3. Select Do not scan. 
4. Choose the tag type: 

   1. Tag 1

   2. Tag 2

   3. Tag 3 (recommended for SmartTags to prevent data connector overwriting)

5. (Optional) Enable Use tag prefix and enter:

   • 98400000 for SmartTag Ear/Neck

   • Up to 15 digits for other tag types

6. (Optional) Enable Automatically overwrite existing combinations to reassign existing tags.

7. Select Start.

8. In the next screen, enter the Animal number and Tag number.

9. Select Add or press Enter.

10. Repeat for multiple entries.

11. Select Save in the upper-right corner to complete.
