
This article explains what the possible SmartTag issue types visible in the SmartTag issue worklist are, and how to troubleshoot each issue.
If the troubleshooting was succesfull, the system automatically removes the SmartTag notification from the Active tab and adds it to the Past week tab.
SmartTag Issue | Description | Troubleshooting Steps |

Attached incorrectly | The SmartTag Ear is not attached correctly. For instance, because the tagger was not held in the correct position during attachment. | Reattach the SmartTag Ear in the correct position. The grey part with the tag number must face forward and be clearly visible in the animal’s ear. The yellow part must be at the back. |
Invalid position | SmartTag Neck: The SmartTag is correctly positioned on the collar, but does not hang straight under the animal's head. It is slightly tilted upward or downward. SmartTag Ear: The SmartTag is slightly tilted upward or downward instead of positioned straight facing forward. | Adjust the position of the SmartTag. |
Back to front | SmartTag Neck: The rear part of the SmartTag Neck is pointing in the wrong direction. The groove on the SmartTag must point toward the animal's head (also indicated by the arrow on the SmartTag). SmartTag Ear: The grey part with the tag number is not facing forward and not clearly visible in the animal’s ear. | Reattach the SmartTag in the correct position. |
Insufficient data | - The system is receiving null data. - The sensor may be broken. - If the SmartTag is not in use, this notification may indicate that the SmartTag changed from sleep mode to active mode. | Select the Unlink tag or Replace tag action. If you select Replace tag, you can enter the new SmartTag number and link it to the animal number immediately. |
No animal linked | - The system receives data from a SmartTag that is not linked to any animal. - If the SmartTag is not in use, this may indicate that the SmartTag changed from sleep mode to active mode. | Link the SmartTag to an animal. |
