Understanding the Health Graph

Modified on Fri, 2 May at 9:13 AM

The Health Graph provides detailed insights into an animal’s behavioral trends and health status. It combines eating, ruminating, and inactivity data with health events and a behavior timeline. You can customize the health graph to your liking.

The health graph consist of two parts:

  1. Line graph: Shows the animal's eating, ruminating and behavioral trends, calendar events and health issues.
  2. Bar graph: Shows the animal's behavior over a 48-hour window.

Where to Find the Health Graph

You can access the health graph from the Worklist dashboard, Cow app, or any Custom worklist.

From the Worklist dashboard:

  1. Select the Health checks worklist or your Custom worklist.
  2. In the Active tab, select a row or select the arrow at the end of the row to open the health graph.

From the Cow app:

  1. Select List of animals.
  2. Select the animal number.
  3. In the left panel, select Health.

How to Use the Health Graph

  1. Navigate the line graph to get an overview of the animal's behavior over a longer period. The x-axis is the selected time period (7-60 days). The y-axis is the animal's behavior (in hours). Analyze the health data by looking at:
    1. Trends of all behavior types.
      1. Eating (dark blue line)
      2. Ruminating (light blue line)
      3. Inactivity (grey line)
    2. Calendar events: Including inseminations, calvings and the scores of the heats. Hover over icons for details.
    3. Health issues: Displayed at the top of the graph for quick visibility.
  2. View 48 hour details of the animal's behavior in the bar graph
    1. The colors indicate behavior type.
    2. The width represents behavior duration. For example, a long period of inactivity appears as a wide grey block.
    3. Only urgent health issues are shown in the bar graph. These are indicated with a red horizontal line above the bar graph.

      Tip

Hover over a health issue to view its start time, end time and duration.

Examples of Health Graphs

  • Chronically sick cows
    • Line Graph: Long periods of low eating and ruminating, high inactivity.
    • Bar Graph: Many grey blocks, indicating extended inactivity
  • Recovering after a health issue
    • Line Graph: Inactivity decreases, eating and ruminating increase.
    • Bar Graph: Shift from grey blocks to more blue blocks (eating and ruminating).
