Understand the Parlor Monitor

Modified on Wed, 20 Aug at 9:20 AM

The parlor monitor interface displays real-time data for each milking point, giving you an instant view of the milking session’s progress and alerts. It’s divided into five main sections, explained below to help you interpret the information effectively.

Rotary Row

1. Milk Session

The Milk session section shows data about the current milk session, including:

  • Milked cows: The number of animals milked per hour.
  • Average milk yield: The average milk collected per hour (in kg).

2. Milk Yield

The Milk yield section shows yield data for a specific milking point or animal that you selected. It also lets you separate the milk of that animal when needed.

  • Left number: Current milk yield, updated in real time.
  • Right number: Expected milk yield.
  • Progress bar: Moves left to right, showing the actual yield compared to the expected yield. This helps you see how far along the milking is for the animal.
    Note

With a Milk production too low attention, the progress bar turns red.

When you want the milk of the animal to be separated, you can select the Separate milk button.  For more information, see Set Up Milk Separation for an Animal.

3. Animal Information

This section shows information about the animal that is currently connected to the milking point you selected. It also lets you separate the animal when needed or edit the animal number.

Information

The following animal information is available:

  • Days in milk (DIM)
  • Total lactation periods
  • The pen the animal belongs to.

Separate the Animal

When you want the animal to be separated, you can select the Separate cow button. For more information, see Separate an Animal During a Milking Session.

Change the Animal Number of the Milking Point

Sometimes you might need to change the animal number for the selected milking point, for example is there was an identification error. See Insert, Remove and Replace an Animal number in the Parlor Monitor.

4 & 5. Milking Points and Milking Parlor

The parlor monitor displays the parlor layout and all milking points. The view depends on the parlor type:

  • Rotary parlor: Milking points are arranged in a circle.
  • Row/Swing-over parlor: Milking points are shown in two rows.

Each milking point contains key information:

  • Orange band: Highlights the selected milking point. The milk yield and animal detail sections then display the connected animal’s data.
  • Milking point number: Shown inside the circle in a rotary parlor, or as the left number in a row parlor.
  • Animal number: Shown on the outside of the circle in a rotary parlor, or as the right number in a row parlor.
  • Progress bar: Moves left to right, showing actual yield compared to expected yield.
  • Current status: There are three statusses for the milking point: waiting, washing and milking.
  • Attentions:
    • Milk and animal separation attention: Indicated by red blinking milking point, sometimes with an icon. For details see Troubleshooting Milking Attentions
    • Heat or health attentions: Indicated by the heat and health  icon
