Understand the Heat Detection Tile

Modified on Tue, 3 Feb at 3:44 PM

The Heat detection feature helps you monitor animals that show signs of heat, by identifying the optimal insemination moment, heat scores, and historical heat patterns. With this information, you can determine which animals are ready for insemination and which may require additional attention. The Heat detection tile on the dashboard gives a clear overview of current heat attentions, indicating if you need to take action.

What You See on the Dashboard

On the Dashboard, the Heat detection tile shows:

  • Total: Number of animals with a heat attention.
  • In insemination period: The number of animals past their VWP, but that are not pregnant yet.
  • In voluntary waiting period: The number of animals with a heat attention in their voluntary waiting period (VWP).
  • Pregnant: The number of animals with a heat attention that are pregnant.
  • Suspicious: Animals that are suspicious of becoming in heat, but are not confirmed to be in heat yet.

Colors explained:

  • Green: You do not have to check the attention list because there are no actions required in terms of reproduction monitoring. For example, a cow in heat but in her VWP gives a green circle.
  • Orange: The attention list has to be checked. For example, inseminate an animal that is in heat while in her insemination period.
