View and Handle Animals with Heat Attentions

Modified on Tue, 3 Feb at 3:59 PM

On this page all animals with a heat attention, handled animals and animals with a suspicious attention are listed. You can plan actions based on this information, for example inseminating an animal, and maintain the administration for these actions.

The heat detection page consists of three tabs: Attentions, Handled and Suspicious. Each tab is explained into more detail below.

Attentions

This tab shows a list of animals in heat which require attention. You can manage animals in bulk or individually. Bulk actions are limited. Individual actions provide the full set of options.

After an action is performed, the heat attentions move to the Handled tab.

Actions on the Attentions tab

Select the Actions button in an animal’s row to handle that animal. Select one or more animals and then select Actions in the upper-left corner to apply an action to all selected animals. Individual actions offer more options than bulk actions, below explains all the available actions.

  • Seen: Mark the animal as seen when you plan to inseminate her and enter the insemination date in your management software.
  • Quick entry: Enter the same data for multiple animals at once.
  • No heat: Mark the animal when she is not in heat.
  • In heat: Mark the animal when she is in heat and you do not plan to inseminate her.
  • Inseminate: Select this option if you inseminate the animal and do not use other management software. Velos automatically records today’s date as the insemination date.
  • Keep open: Mark the animal as "keep open" to indicate she should not be inseminated anymore.
  • View on map (Cow Positioning license required): View the animal on the map to see her location in the barn.
Tip

To include or exclude animals in the voluntary waiting period, animals on a specific location and pregnant animals for heat attentions, see this article.
